Mullumbimby Shows Royal Connections

The Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle streamed into hundreds, possibly thousands of homes across Mullumbimby and the Northern Rivers.

While all the pomp and ceremony of the Queens Royal Cavalry horses may seem a world away to many who watched, we do, in fact have a part of the Queens Royal Cavalry right here in the biggest little town in Australia.

Back in the 1960’s the Show Society President Mr Os McPaul, wrote a letter to  Queen Elizabeth requesting a donation for our show.  The Show Society have indeed been blessed by the generosity of sponsors throughout our history including the Queens Household Cavalry.    The Queens Cavalry sent a full Regimental head kit inclusive of bits, brass fittings and chains.

Seen here are the British defence attaché Major Christopher Anderson discussing the history of the regimental head kit given by the Household Cavalary, London, to the Mullumbimby Agricultural Society with, from left, the Member for Richmond, Mr Blunt, society President, Mr Frank James, and life member, Mr Os McPaul.
